The Oz Quickdraw is the most lightweight quickdraw created by Black Diamond. The HoodWire technology gives it the advantage of smooth and seamless clipping, which makes it the perfect quickdraw for shedding a few grammes on the paths that require a lot of equipment and for the lengthy progression stages associated with sports climbing.
Featuring hot-forged Oz carabiners at both ends and a lightweight 10 mm Dynex dogbone, this quickdraw is excellent for mountaineering and during any ascent where the weight of the equipment is a crucial factor in getting to the summit successfully.
The head, covered with stainless steel wire and for which a patent is currently pending, allows the carabiners to benefit from the Keylock functionality and to achieve a smooth clipping /unclipping.
Hot-forging versus cold-forging:
We use two different forging methods to produce our carabiners: hot-forging and cold-forging. Each process has its own advantages but, by applying both methods, we have been able to invent new shapes and sizes that are suitable for the specific functionality of each carabiner and to offer the best durability at the lowest price. HOT-FORGING is a process during which the mould as well as the metal is heated, causing the metal, or raw material that we are using, to lose its shape. This allows us to produce shapes that are more complex, such as those of our GridLock and Oz carabiners.
