The ski touring binding system is an important part of the equipment, which must release the heel on ascents and lock it on descents. Two models are offered, one of which requires the purchase of specific boots and the other does not.
The most affordable ski touring binding already offers lightness and robustness, stability, walking comfort, but also a simple handling system, essential for switching from "walk" mode to "ski" mode in a few seconds and at any time. Snowleader Suisse offers several models of ski touring bindings, some of which use recent and complex technologies representing a good uphill/downhill compromise.
You are already familiar with the alpine ski binding, which holds the ski boot and releases it in the event of a fall. The ski touring binding uses the same principle on descents but also has a unique walk mode that releases the heel of the ski touring boot. This allows you to slide the ski naturally without too much effort on the ascent.
During the ascent, the ski boot remains attached at the front, allowing the heel to be free. Risers can be placed under the heel on steep slopes, which prevents excessive strain on the calves and unnecessary fatigue. Some bindings even have several riser levels to adapt to the different inclines encountered.
Once the ascent is over, touring bindings become classic bindings that hold the boot completely. For this, on an insert binding like the famous Dynafit Speed Turn 2.0 binding, simply rotate the heel piece to align the rear inserts, clip the front toe piece, then the heel. Find the best brands of ski touring bindings such as Dynafit, ATK, Marker or Plum.
Ski touring requires contradictory maneuvers and the ski touring binding must combine flexibility when walking with safety on descents, not to mention the essential lightness and the need for bindings that will release the boot in case of excessive tension, while resisting when necessary. Back Country, Climbing Aid, EPF-Extended Power frame, AFD Stainless Steel, Biometric Pro, Biotech, Triple Pivot Elite Toe, Light Toe and Comfort Toe, Intelligent Backward Release, TLT... technologies are all brought together in the same equipment for your comfort and safety.
