The Backland series is a leader in the ski touring market, offering the perfect balance of uphill and downhill features. It will allow you to tackle significant uphill climbs while maintaining good downhill performance on all types of terrain. In terms of climbing, the Backland Expert W comes with a Frictionless pivot system and completely rubber soles to ensure a natural walk. They provide the necessary performance uphill thanks to their wide 74° range of motion as well as their opening/closing mechanism. You'll feel like you're wearing walking shoes! These boots include the Free/Lock 4.0 system to transition from walk mode to ski mode in a single fast and efficient motion. Once ski mode is engaged, you can ski with confidence thanks to the Backland Expert W's excellent performance in the descent.
The Backland Expert W benefits from Prolite construction, where the PU shell is thinned in specific places, which allows for impressive weight reduction without compromising the foot support. It also includes also the Energy Backbone which improves the lateral resistance and grip for even more power. What's more, with True Flex the Backland Expert W is able to maintain the same flex all year round, so they will not be more flexible in the spring or hard as a rock during colder trips.
As for the fit, the Memory Fit 3D makes your shoe customisable, for a custom-made shoe. The shell and the liner are specially adapted to women's body shape, for ever more comfort. For optimal support, the Backland Expert W incorporates a Boa clamping system that is quick and easy to handle.

The result is less energy reserved for keeping the foot in place in the boot, and more available for control. Push in to engage the system, turn to tighten or loosen, and then pull up for quick release.
