| EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) | An EVA sole is a plastic sole that can be lighter and more flexible than rubber. EVA stands for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. It is an elastomer polymer that produces “rubber-like” materials due to its suppleness and flexibility. This plastic is made by combining ethylene and vinyl acetate to create properties similar to rubber, which can be used for shoe soles. |
| AMAZON RUBBER | Each VEJA sole is composed of 20 to 30% rubber sourced from the Amazon rainforest. The seringueiros (rubber tappers) are paid according to fair trade principles. The use of this Amazon rubber increases the economic value of the forest and protects it from deforestation. |
| ORGANIC COTTON | The fabric is made from 100% certified organic cotton. The cotton is grown in Brazil and Peru by cooperatives that respect people and the environment, following fair trade principles. In Brazil, the cotton is organic and agroecological, a type of agriculture that enriches the soil after cultivation by promoting species complementarity and water retention in the soil. In Peru, organic cotton farmers are supported in their certification and receive technical and financial assistance to improve their production. |
